Biljana

I have the honor to present to you the Interview I made with the Serbian producer Biljana Prvanovic. I unexpectedly met her during the “Kef” film festival in Plovdiv – she’s the woman standing behind one of my favorite Serbian movies “Parada”. I’m really happy about our meet and couldn’t wait to share the result, keep reading and enjoy :

Is there a quote that you use like a moto?

  • “Thanks to all my “friends” who were not by my side when I needed them. Without them I wouldn’t be able to develop my potential and capacity.” – the ultimate truth!

What you dreamed of as a kid? Did the small Biljana imagine herself as the successful woman you’ve become?

  • I have amazing family – loving, modest and supportive. My parents were medical workers and with my younger brother I’ve always had strong bond. I was very wild child , but always knew what I wanted and never settled for less. All my life I’ve serched “something more” and wanted to achieve all my dreams and goals. During the making of my first movie “Mama Lucia”, Sophia Loren told me : “Happiness and work don’t fall from the sky, you must meet them yourself.” . And with that mindset, the success is pretty guaranteed. I hope I don’t sound arrogant.

What your profession gave you and what is taking you the most?

  • My work is pure pleasure. Travels, visiting new places, while working, worldwide festivals… Definitely the best past are the applauses of the happy and content audience – the moments that make you forget all the troubles you’ve had, sometimes for years.. And the thing I miss the most is the lost time with my daughter Sophia. But I’m really gratefull to my Mother, who brought her everywhere, so we were able to have her by our side while working. Now Sophia’s 29 and she’s living in Barcelona as a succesfull and independent woman!

To be a producer means…

  • It depends on the place. In Serbia you need a lot of work, dedication and sacrifices… A lot of pople would give up in my place. But difficulties are inspiring for me, they make me even more passionated and constant. And for now it’s all working out great.

Is there a question you’re asking yourself?

  • Yes. I’ve studied law and I constantly ask myself if I’m going to be a good lawyer also. And I think I would, because in my opinion it’s the person that matters, not the profession.

The mistake you’d make with pleasure again?

  • Quit my law studies to dive into a whole new different and super exciting world – the world of film making.

The outfit “Biljana Prvanovic” would be…

  • I love the women who take care of themselves – mainly about their health and figure. The “Biljana Prvanovic” outfit would be for sure mix between casual and elegant and would have variations, depending on the occaison.

You were in Plovdiv recently and I know you made some good shopping. What’s your opinion on the Bulgarian woman – does she has the same style as the Serbian one? Are there differences between them?

  • Yes, I’m really thankfull for the hospitality from all the organizators of the “Kef” film festival. I had great shopping experience, that’s true. I was surprised in how many stores I found young designer names – cool and innovative designs that are my favourite. Bulgaria has the previledge to be part of the EU, that Serbia hasn’t. However, the working woman in Serbia usually don’t by clothes in the country, but from the places she visits on a trip. The Serbian woman takes care on how she looks and is always trendy and I think it’s the same with the Bulgarian woman as well.

Would you act in a movie that speaks about your life and what would be seen in it?

  • No, I wouldn’t be an actress in this movie, because I’m “behind the scenes” all my life – that’s my work and I love it. And I’m not sure actually if the film would be interesting, because after all I’m first mother, wife, sister, daughter and then.. working woman.

Every woman must be…

  • Maintained, in good shape and always smiling.

The three words that describe you?

  • Persistent, disciplined, sincere.

Thank you for the wonderful Interview, Biljana!

I’m hugging you tightly,

Tedunche
